It's simple, really...
Do you watch Saturday Night Live and wish someone would do an SNL that spoke to you as a Malaysian? Or do you feel like if you've seen one sketch comedy you've seen'em all, that they all say the same things and poke fun at all the easy stereotypes?
Why don't you try these guys on for size!

Original sketch comedy written by Malaysians, for Malaysians. For now at least. Written amid a maelstrom of club beats and hazy substance-filled caverns, this is comedy in which you worry for the performer's sanity and yours after watching. In a good way of course.
Projek Disko Baldi, or as they are affectionately referred to as, PDB, have been around in one incarnation or another for quite sometime but truly came together as PDB in August 2010. You might have seen their antics at klpac Open Day 2011 and at various open mic events around town. You might remember listening to strains of their wildly infectious tune "I Wanna Yuna".....
But here's them in their own words, taken from their FB event page.....
Projek Disko Baldi invites you to join them on a journey of random, “what the what ?”, “gila dowh” sketches. Parodies, satires, original songs and 100% zaniness - you'll never know what hit you. Ada berani?

As a self-confessed fan of musicals, I did not hesitate to book a ticket and spread the word when I found out local production company Pan Productions was putting on, in their own words, ‘one of the icons of musical theatre’, Kander & Ebb’s multi-award wining Cabaret at KLPAC’s Pentas 2. It's not often that Malaysians get to watch Broadway musicals and a local production is, to my limited knowledge, unprecedented. My hope, excitement and expectations were sky-high.
Bedroom Sanctuary is a moniker of Bo Amir Iqram and it's got really chilled out, happy grooves that I really dig. Genre: happy, psychedelic pop mixed with some great acoustics and happy la-di-da's (if there was ever such a genre).
I would say its a nice blend of feel-good, whee-happy electronica, Jack Johnson and lots of John Mayer. His vocal styles and some of the grooves is quite reminiscent of the Mayer dude. The cool thing is that this guy recorded everything and mixed it himself so it's something quite inspiring.
You can check out samples from the album here: http://www.soundcloud.com/boamiriqramofficial.
I picked up the album from one of his gigs--so watch out for Bo Amir Iqram! A really fun entertainer with awesome arrangements and stage vibes.
If you happen to be at One Utama tomorrow, head on down to MPH from 4pm - 5pm for a slice of readings taken from Sharon Bakar's collection of writings curated from "Readings", a live literature event held monthly at Seksans.
Grab the book and get the authors to sign it :)
I've just made my way to the one at Midvalley MPH this afternoon and conveniently forgot my copy. Great! So don't make the same mistake hey!
