The following is lifted from the FB Event Page:
A tense truce holds between the Montagues and Capulets after the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Benvolio, Romeo's best friend, is in love with Juliet's cousin, Rosaline, but she is bent on revenge. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the near future, After Juliet probes into the aftermath of Shakespeare's masterpiece – will history repeat itself?
Based on an original idea by Keira Knightley, After Juliet is written by her mother, the award-winning playwright Sharman Macdonald, and continues to be performed by youth theatre groups from all around the world.
After Juliet will be directed by klpac's resident director, Kelvin Wong and will play at klpac's Pentas 2 for a total of 6 shows from July 15th – 18th 2010.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU!
After Juliet is on the lookout for an ensemble cast of 12 people, some of whom will double up in character. We're also looking for a production and creative team which include managers, designers, composers and builders – scroll below for more details!
WHAT WILL THE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE BE LIKE?
Rehearsals for After Juliet will commence May 15th, taking place on weekday (Tuesday, Thursday) nights and weekend (Saturday, Sunday) mornings/noons.
I'M INTERESTED TO BE PART OF THE ENSEMBLE CAST. WHAT IS REQUIRED OF ME?
You're 16 and above as of 2010; you're ready for the rigorous, disciplined craft that is the theatre; you're inquisitive about the actor's craft and are ready to explore, fumble, discover and learn; you're ready to work, contribute and grow as a creative team; you're ready to fully commit yourself to the entire rehearsal schedule; and in the creative training process, you're ready for that giant bowl of fun.
After Juliet, simply put, means serious business!
WHAT DO I PREPARE FOR ENSEMBLE CAST AUDITIONS?
Aspiring ensemble cast auditionees are required to prepare:
- two contrasting interpretations of one excerpt from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet of 1 minute each;
- one interpretation of a contemporary adult monologue in English of 1 minute;
- a dance number (bring your own music, in CD Audio format only) of 30 seconds; and
- an optional presentation of your other abilities (acrobatics, singing, mime, magic tricks, accents, juggling, clowning, musical instruments, etc.) of 1 minute
BUT I DON'T WANT TO ACT - HOW ELSE CAN I GET INVOLVED?
We're banding together a strong production and creative team for After Juliet, consisting of
- production/stage managers
- set and prop designers and builders
- wardrobe designers and managers
Individuals who would like to take on the roles above (you may also be interested in more than one!) are required to bring along their related résumés (if applicable) to the interview.
DO I GET PAID?
After Juliet fully operates on a profit-sharing basis among its ensemble, production and creative team members from a percentage of ticket sales. If you're looking at making big bucks from your involvement with After Juliet though, we'd suggest you make a truce with a fast-food corporation instead, where you'll earn a lot more in a lesser span of time.
DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING IN THE THEATRE?
Prior experience in all aspects of a theatre ensemble would definitely help you, but is not a prerequisite for auditions/interviews nor induction into the ensemble, production, or creative team. In fact, we're always looking for fresh, young blood – provided they come by with their minds, bodies and hearts in the right places.
MAY I ATTEND AUDITIONS/INTERVIEWS FOR AFTER JULIET AS WELL AS INDICINELIVE! - EPISODE TWO?
Because both projects are being embarked on by the same director, you're more than welcomed to attend the auditions/interviews for both projects, as rehearsal/performance dates and times will not clash. Bear in mind though, that you'll be required to prepare accordingly for both auditions/interviews, and that After Juliet and indicinelive! are two very different, unrelated creative premises.
AWESOME - SIGN ME UP!
Email [email protected] stating your area(s) of interest (acting, managing, designing, music playing, etc.) by 11.59 pm on May 6th - you will then be sent an online registration form to fill in as well as a date/time slot, confirming your attendance to the audition/interview. Walk-ins will not be entertained. Also state in your email a preference of an audition/interview day (subject to slot availability):
- May 7th, Friday (6 to 8 pm)
- May 8th, Saturday (10 am to 2 pm)
- May 9th, Sunday (10 am to 2 pm)
Prospective ensemble cast must make themselves available for ALL days between May 10th – 13th (7 to 10 pm) for sessions of workshops-cum-callbacks at klpac.
